Alina Suarez
I first joined the congregation back in 1996 and rejoined in 2020. Since returning to St. Simon, I have become an active member of the congregation and vestry.
Although raised in the Roman Catholic faith, I was confirmed, married and had my children baptized and confirmed in the Episcopal Church. After spending forty plus years in the mortgage business, I retired to devote my time to my grandchildren. I enjoy spending free time with my husband of close to fifty years, Bernie, and our three children and grandchildren.

I have been Baptized and Confirmed in the Episcopal Church. Attended The Cathedral School
in Havana, Cuba until it was closed by the Castro regime. In 1968 left Cuba through Spain to
Chicago where I became a member of All Saints Episcopal Church. In 1984 moved to Miami
and became a member of St Simon Episcopal Church.
In 1985 I transferred to Todos Los Santos, where Reverend Salvador was rector until his
retirement. In 2004 I transferred back to St Simon and shortly after that Father Sandoval
became the rector. Currently, I hold the position of Jr. Warden, and sing in the choir.
I am married to Roberto, who has been a faithful member of St Simon since 1978 and gained a
bonus family of two children that gave us 4 grandchildren and one great grandson.

Lourdes Aboud
Lourdes Aboud graduated from the University of Miami, married her college sweetheart Al, and taught public elementary school for a few years. After the birth of their son, Joseph, a job opportunity for Al required multiple interstate moves, which was viewed as an adventure; Lourdes provided a supporting role and served as homemaker, caring for their son while he attended private and public schools. She also was a Creative Memories Consultant, taught Spanish, and volunteered in the schools, church, and community. Her time managing her church thrift shop awoke in her a joy for facilitating community while encouraging the rehoming and repurposing of goods. Lourdes is happy to use her joy in bringing together community in her new position as one of two Jr. Wardens at St. Simon’s Episcopal Church.
Lourdes’ interests include art, music, writing, reading, and communing with nature and animals. Lourdes and her husband Al live in Miami but find ways to get together with their son, Joe, and their son-in-law McMillen, both living in Brooklyn.
